Job Overview

In this role, you will serve as a technical expert for the design and integration of the low-voltage circuit. You will own hardware subassemblies from ideation through to production, including  specifications, design, protoype and testing. Successful candidates will have strong time management skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills. Core responsibilities will include working closely with Energy Storage and powertrain engineers to develop a reliable and robust auxiliary electrical system.  We promote a hard work, high reward environment with tremendous opportunities for advancement within the company as we enter a period of hyper-growth. As a part of this role, you will have visibility into the other projects in development at the company and will regularly engage with the executives and founders on the progress of your work.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Work with Powertrain team to define system level requirements for the auxiliary power system  
  • Create and maintain 3D models, assemblies and fabrication drawings using 3D CAD packages 
  • Design and document new cable and harness designs before transitioning designs into production
  • Collaborate with Powertrain Team on design, simulation, integration, and testing 
  • Present project progress and challenges during all-hands meetings 
  • Prepare project plans, detailed design schedule, product cost estimate, and development cost timeline
  • Coordinate with management team to develop growth strategy for business and technology development

Qualifications & Experience

  • BS degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • 3+ years professional engineering experience in related field
  • Prior experience with electric vehicles/Formula SAE or similar is a plus
  • Strong technical understanding of circuit design
  • Experience developing electromechanical systems and interfacing with high voltage products
  • CAD proficiency, Autodesk Inventor preferred
  • Experience in Matlab/Simulink is a plus
  • Self-motivated worker with strong attention to detail 
  • Comfortable working 50-55 hours per week
